FAQs
“What is “Breathwork?” I breathe everyday…”
Regular breathing is an unconscious, shallow process that primarily engages the chest and serves the basic function of sustaining life. In contrast, guided diaphragmatic breathing is a deliberate, deep breathing practice that fully engages the diaphragm, allowing oxygen to reach deeper into the lungs and energize the body on a cellular level. This form of breathing not only nourishes the body but also has the power to unlock profound healing.
Guided diaphragmatic breathing, or deep belly breathing, is a powerful tool for healing the body, mind, and spirit. This technique activates the body’s natural ability to release physical ailments, emotional trauma, mental blocks, and spiritual stagnation. Rooted in ancient Chinese medicine, the belief is that sickness and discomfort stem from stagnant energy in the body, much like a stagnant lake or pond becomes polluted over time. Through breathwork, we create flow and movement, allowing this energy to circulate and revitalize the entire system.
During a breathwork session, the deep, rhythmic breathing forces the body’s energy channels—known in ancient practices as nadis or prana pathways—to open and clear. As these channels align, we release trapped energy, emotions, and blockages that no longer serve us. This process promotes balance, clarity, and a profound sense of renewal, creating space for healing and transformation on every level. Breathwork isn’t just about breathing; it’s about rediscovering the flow of life within you.
How Does Breathwork Impact Mental Clarity?
Breathwork, particularly deep diaphragmatic techniques like Breathwork Detox, induces a state known as transient hypofrontality. This occurs when the prefrontal cortex—the brain’s executive decision-making center—temporarily quiets down.
The prefrontal cortex is responsible for creating boundaries and categorizations like “you vs. me” or “good vs. bad.” It’s also where the “monkey mind” resides—our inner critic and self-saboteur. By reducing its activity during breathwork, the mind experiences a profound stillness, free from mental chatter.
This state allows you to bypass distractions and access deeper insights and creative flow. In neuroscience, transient hypofrontality is also referred to as a flow state, where ideas, solutions, and inspiration emerge naturally—not because breathwork creates creativity, but because it clears the mental clutter standing in its way.
Breathwork is like tuning into a quantum field of possibilities, where clarity emerges, not from “woo-woo” magic, but from the science of how your brain quiets and recalibrates.
What Role Does Breathwork Play in Emotional Release?
Breathwork is a powerful tool for emotional healing because it works directly with the body, where emotions are stored. While the mind often projects into the future, the body acts like a living library, holding onto past experiences—especially unprocessed emotions and traumas.
When we’re young, we lack the emotional intelligence to fully process painful or challenging events. These unresolved emotions accumulate in the body over time, embedding themselves in the nervous system. Left unaddressed, they can manifest as chronic stress, nervous system dysregulation, or even physical illness.
Breathwork facilitates emotional release by tapping into these stored experiences, allowing the body to process them in a safe and supportive way. Historically, this practice was referred to as “body washing,” as the breath “cleanses” the body of these emotional imprints. By engaging in intentional breathing, you allow the body to detox from these compounded emotions, restoring balance and vitality to both the mind and body.

How to Prepare for a session:
YOGA MAT (no pillows are needed for your neck). You may want to put a pillow or bolster under your knees if you have lower back pain.
A BLANKET is always nice (or wear many warm layers that can be taken off). Body temperatures tend to drop while doing Breathwork and when it does you'll be happy you took this advice.
SLEEP EYE MASK: If you have an eye-mask/ sleep mask, those are really good to use, but not necessary. However, it does allow you to go deeper.
DON'T EAT BEFORE A SESSION! You'll want your last meal to be 2-3 hours prior to Breathwork (the emptier your stomach, the better the results). If you must eat something to stabilize your blood sugar, please make it something very light. TIP:Drink lots of water the day of the event (but not too much).
Please DO NOT drink any alcohol or do any type of drugs prior to Breathwork (this includes marijuana). We understand you may have prescriptions and that's okay, just please come as clear-headed and motivated as possible).
Please don't come with expectations. Just show up with an open mind and excitement for change. Simply set your intention to release any old habits/patterns and be ready to fill that space with love and gratitude.
What to expect and how to get the best results out of your breathwork experience:
Here are some common side effects of breathwork that you will have to overcome to have the most transformational shift. ALL of these symptoms are NORMAL:
Physical:
Dizziness
Sweating/ Shivers
Eye Fluttering, watery eyes
Twitching/Shaking/Vibrating
Yawning/Dry Mouth
Numbness & Tingling
Cramping AKA Tetany in the hands
Emotional:
Emotions can and will come up! If you have to cry, cry, then go back to the breathing, don't push it down (betterOUT than in). Give yourself permission to surrender to whatever arises. Crying is a great emotional release -sometimes the weight we need to lose isn't on our physical body.
At the very least give yourself permission to cry if you feel something come up. If you feel you need to cry, then cry and when you feel complete, go back to the breathing.
Mental:
You must override your brain. It's the hardest part of Breathwork. It WILL try to distract you, don't let it!
Your brain's job is to keep you safe in your comfort zone &protect you, and it does that by distracting you if it can't scare you. (Transient Hypofrontality)
Here are some short one-liners that your brain will come up with to prevent you from giving 100%
Oh this sucks!
How long am I doing this for again?
I feel dizzy like I'm going to pass out!
I can't be doing this right!
This is hard, why do people like this?
How is this supposed to change my life?
I think I'm having a stroke!
Somethings not right!
How much longer?
Who should NOT do breathwork:
While breathwork is a transformative practice that benefits many, it’s not suitable for everyone. Individuals who are pregnant or have ongoing medical or mental health conditions should consult with their physician prior to engaging in breathwork. Conditions such as epilepsy, cardiovascular issues, high blood pressure, or severe mental health challenges may require extra caution. If your doctor approves your participation, then so do we! Your safety is our priority, and we encourage everyone to approach this practice with awareness and care for their unique circumstances. Remember, at the end of the day, we are Just Breathing…
Are any substances consumed during these events?
No substances are consumed—before, during, or after. The powerful reactions you see are purely natural, as the body releases stored energy in its own way. Breathwork itself is the catalyst for transformation. We strongly encourage complete sobriety to allow for a pure, authentic, and deeply healing experience.
Is breathwork compatible with Christianity? Can Christians attend?
Absolutely! Breathwork is a natural, God-given process—your breath is life itself. The intense emotional and physical releases some experience are simply the body clearing stored energy, not an exorcism or spiritual ritual.
We want to be clear—we are not healers. We are coaches guiding you through deep breathing, but the breath itself is what does the work. Many Christians find breathwork deepens their faith, bringing clarity, peace, and a stronger connection to God.
There are no religious or doctrinal affiliations—just a safe space for healing, renewal, and personal transformation. If you feel called to explore it, trust that your breath will guide you in alignment with your faith.
Do you offer refunds?
